If you have a piece of California – wildland or land with wild neighbors – we can introduce you to its natural processes and inhabitants. We can equip you to enjoy every minute you’re there, getting to know it more thoroughly.
Selborne Surveys is a unique consulting naturalist service. Our name is inspired by Gilbert White’s classic account of rural England in the eighteenth century, The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne.
We inventory a residential or commercial property and provide a handsome illustrated report on its flora, fauna, geology, and ecology, customized to the client’s interests. Reports may be a snapshot at one point in time or follow an annual cycle. We document seasonal and historical changes and describe the web of connections among animals, plants, and the land.

“In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, we will understand only what we are taught.”
We hope to help more Californians fall in love with the places they inhabit and enjoy becoming more knowledgeable stewards of their land.
